Afghan Op Ed
I picked another essay from my humanities 10 class because this essay talks about a topic and region I am very interested about. Afghanistan and the Taliban. It talks about women’s limitations in Afghanistan due to the Taliban’s strict code of behavior. In this essay, the current event is expressed using literary elements of “ethos, pathos, and logos”. Using these techniques I focus on giving a background and ways the reader can help this cause.
Panel Discussion
I chose to showcase my panel discussion because I was happy with the way I performed my role as an author, explaining how Jama, the main character survived his struggling journey through parts of Africa and Europe. I had to give this information to an audience that had never read my book and give them a well worded explanation while proving my point. My main point was how corrupt societies impact individuals in this case, 3rd world countries.
I feel like my written response could of been explaining Jama’s story better to a group of people who have never heard of Jama or his amazing story. I could've done this by elaborating on what conflicts he had with his parents(which caused him to run away). I could've also had a better attitude author wise during our panel discussion.
I chose to use another writing piece in my portfolio because I feel that my best work comes from those projects. In a writing school, it is important to know what to write about. In class we were told to come up with questions that we have always asked ourselves. As we picked those questions, we began to write about them, In class we did lots of research on our topic. I feel that my topic was a topic that is not asked a lot. I have always wondered why people join the military and what are the benefits.Reflection
